Father's Therapy Support Group
For New Fathers

The journey to becoming a father is transformative and can turn a man’s life inside out. We cannot do it alone, but the support of other fathers can help us along the way.

This group is created to empower men in becoming fathers through encouragement, education, and group process. Facilitated by two registered therapists who are themselves fathers, the group meets WEEKLY to provide a confidential, non-judgmental space to bring up and discuss challenging experiences and explore new skills and solutions. All themes and feelings are welcome.

The groups start with a brief mindfulness practice and check-in/introduction, after which there is room for open discussion. Some weeks will have set themes as a focus, and input is welcome on what these should be.

Planned themes for discussion:
  • Personal goals, life path, work, and reorienting to a new role

  • Self-care, emotions, processing
  • Loneliness or isolation

  • Complicated birth or pregnancy and conception

  • Relationship Issues, intimacy, communication

  • And more...

Format:
  • Sets of 4 weekly meetings restarting every month

  • Meetings are 90 minutes long

  • SLIDING SCALE $160-$200 for 4 meetings

Kester Reid (MACP) is a clinical counsellor working in humanistic, internal family systems, and existential frameworks. He has over a decade of experience supporting people through life transitions as a nature-based mentor and director of Danu Folk School, a cultural learning centre in the Comox Valley. He has been involved with men’s work in the community for six years and has found this greatly supportive to his own process as a new father. His approach is warm and direct, rooted in the belief that becoming a father isn't just a role to adjust to, but a profound opportunity for personal growth.
