Eating Disorders
Relational Psychotherapy and Counselling

Disordered eating is currently treated primarily in groups or residential programs. My experience working at the Vancouver Eating Disorders Program made me sensitive to the specific needs and behaviours of clients with disordered eating. Private therapy can be a great adjunct to other forms of treatment in treating past or present traumas, reduce behaviours, and curb other symptoms like substance use.

Disordered eating can often mask various deep painful causes, many of which are often unconscious or mysterious to patients. Without working from a diagnostic language, Relational Therapy can facilitate an inquiry into the deepest origins of these motivations and the process by which they become habits that are entrenched and often harmful, even though they may feel so rewarding in the moment.
